Cydonia Caves is tucked away in the picturesque village of Megalochori in Santorini.  Found in the main square of the village, “Potamos”, it allows visitors to experience living in an authentic traditional Santorini village while being a short drive from the island’s center, Thira, and various beaches.

Cydonia caves has evolved from a 200-year-old historical house used originally as a residence and canava – winery –  into an authentic, Cycladic-styled boutique accommodation. Great effort was given to maintain the history and elegance of the house.

Dedicated to the needs of seasoned travelers, Cydonia Caves has in total a combination of five caves and rooms. Our caves maintain the traditional Cycladic architecture with; arched ceilings, indoor wooden shutters and the original “poria” – decorative stone masonry – around the doors and windows. Sharing two private yards, they offer a peaceful environment away from the crowds. Two caves come with access to a private terrace with magical views of the sea and the village, which are also equipped with hot tubs.

The name Cydonia Caves comes from the tree, “Kυδωνιά” – pronounced ‘Ky-do-nia’, which was planted in our yard many years ago from our ancestors, where family photos have been taken over the years.
